Dr. Muhammed Majeed established Sabinsa Corporation in 1988, to market the nutritional supplements of Indian, African, European and American origin to the rapidly growing US and global nutraceutical and cosmeceutical markets.

To facilitate the increased demand for innovative application-based products, Sami Labs Ltd was set up in 1991 at Peenya in Bangalore as a research facility. Today the main thrust and focus of Sami is at new product development and market-oriented research.

To cater to the expanding global market, marketing tie-ups have been launched in Europe , Australia , West Asia and South America , including full-fledged offices in Japan , Australia and South Africa . The nutraceuticals focus has extended to cosmeceuticals that finds increasing application in personal care products. The thrust and focus at SAMI is on market-oriented research and new product development. Ideas for new product development are based on the feedback received from its US marketing group -- Sabinsa Corporation -- and its customers, as well as the needs of other international markets.
